Francesco choose to look at the sea
(refering to his marine paintiongs) for nostalgia.
He paints it when he’s far away from it, and photographs it to keep it.
He was born in France from a french mom and an italian Dadd
who left Sicily 40 years ago.
„I started when I was young, keeping with me an handle of sand
from the beaches where I spent time.“
His photographs or paintings are a way, a therapy ,
a compensation mechanism to find again colors, perfums,
salt taste from a time.
Since nursery school, Francesco devote his time to drawing :
He first draws on school table, then on book’s strokes during the long long hours of school.
Drawing is a way to fight the annoying.
Later, Francesco directs to graduate school in graphical arts :
Human models, charcoals, pastels, a bit of architecture, and especially photographs cours with Jean-Pierre Bonfort as teacher, montains photograph.
From him, he retains this :
« Everybody has in his attic, cellar, some photograph chefs-d’œuvres, the hardest is to
recognize these works. »
Francesco took part to his first photo contest as student, organised by Mercure Hotels and won the first price « Hotel President price » in Grenoble.
Later on, he starts as graphic designer in Paris. He worked for several web agencys and lived in a little hotel (Hotel de Londres et du Brésil) near Saint Denis Street. It’s the opportunity to start to photograph all this effervescent little world : „le sentier“, the subway, clandestine salesmen, Paris pavements in the night with all these women working.
3 years later, Francesco came back in is native place, Grenoble in the alps and works for
CapGemini as Art Director.
In parallel, he paints and win the first price at the Artists celebrates of Albertville.
After 11 years of experience in art direction and web design, he creates his own
Company as freelancer : Carella and Co
Today painting or photographing are more a need than a hobby.
It’s the way to ask ourselves, to share and to take part to an exchange with the world.
